More details from petition creator

In 2002, it was agreed that the church would pay no more than €128 million to victims of clerical abuse. This effectively leaves the taxpayer responsible to pay the remaining €1.6 billion on compensation payouts. Despite recent meetings between bishops and CORI, the congregations have refused to renegotiate the terms of 2002. We call upon all congregations involved in the clerical abuse scandal which has been recently exposed by the Ryan Commission Report to reconsider their position with regard to this matter and increase the compensation they are willing to make available to all victims of abuse.
